Grace Missions
Grace's mission statement ends with “...for the transformation of the world,” and we mean it. All we seek to be and do is in the hope of holistic transformation for our neighborhoods, our city, and whoever else God places in our path. We invite you to join in our our journey to be the hands and feet of Christ in our world.

Afghan Refugee Ministry
Ongoing
After a 20+ year war in Afghanistan, our troop withdrawal in the Fall of 2021 created a dire situation for thousands of Afghans who had been instrumental in helping the US during our time there. Many of these, mostly men, were able to flee their homes in those final hours and journey to the United States to begin their new life. We as a church want to be instrumental in helping with their resettlement here in Birmingham. We believe we are called to honor the directive from Leviticus to show compassion “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 19:33-34. There are multiple ways that we are helping in the resettlement of those coming to Birmingham, but we are specifically focusing on one family that we have “adopted” by providing specific care, aid and resources for. Glenwood
Throughout the Year
Glenwood is not only a neighbor to Grace, but also a partner in ministry. Glenwood’s mission is to enable individuals to live life to their fullest potential. They provide an array of comprehensive services devoted to the protection of individual rights, anchored in the support and person-centered treatment of children and adults impacted by autism and other behavioral health needs. Outcome-focused services are provided through positive interactions, centered in dignity and respect of the individual’s rights. Throughout the year we have opportunities to serve with Glenwood by hosting events on our Grace campus for residents, supporting their annual holiday pecan sale, as well as other individual volunteer opportunities. The Firehouse Shelter
Monthly
Firehouse Ministries serves more chronically homeless men than any agency in the state of Alabama. Founded in 1983, they operate the broadest, most comprehensive continuum of services for not only Birmingham’s homeless but, for those experiencing homelessness in surrounding areas, as well. They offer meals, street outreach, employment readiness workshops, literacy skills, life training skills and a clothing closet to approximately 5,000 of our city’s most desperate citizens yearly. Grace has partnered with the Firehouse Shelter to send groups monthly to provide, cook, and serve dinner to the residents of the shelter. This is a fantastic opportunity to serve some of our city’s homeless population. Please CLICK HERE to be contacted by one of our lay leaders for this ministry.

School Partnerships
Throughout the Year
Grace values education and the life-long foundation that it provides for children. We know that there is great disparity between school systems in our city, and we have committed ourselves to being a part of the solution to that problem. At different points in the year, we partner with local schools to provide supplies, books, and other resources to help create more opportunity for students in these school systems. If you are interested in volunteering, please CLICK HERE to be contacted by one of our lay leaders for this ministry.

Panama Missions
Coming 2023
Grace has entered into a new partnership with a Methodist outreach ministry in Cieneguita, Panama. This ministry is a comprehensive rural health project which serves the Ngobe Indians, who are the poorest of the poor in Panama. This project includes the provision of potable water, adult literacy classes, community organization, and pre-school education for the Ngobe children. We are building a multilevel partnership that will include financial assistance as well as onsite missionary teams that will travel to Panama for week-long mission trips! Nicaragua
Ongoing
Grace has a long term partnership with the Christian organization JustHope in Nicaragua. In the past we have sent mission teams as well as donating funds to help build houses and even provide a new water pump for an entire village. While our onsite teams have not been able to travel to Nicaragua in several years because of political turmoil and COVID, we have continued our financial partnership. Bundles of Hope
Throughout the Year
Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank offers hope to families during times of financial hardship by providing their infants and toddlers with diapers. If you have ever had to buy diapers for an infant you know just how costly those “throw away” necessities are! Throughout the year we do diaper drive collections for Bundles of Hope to help resupply their diaper bank and provide relief to families who need it most. The Lovelady Center
Throughout the Year
The Lovelady Center exists to empower women through faith-based initiatives so they can return to society as well-equipped women of God. The program is about empowerment, hope, and a belief in the value of each and every human life. Over the course of the year, Grace supports these women by doing drives that focus primarily on personal hygiene supplies and other resources as requested by the center.
